.. When people come into work in the morning, they should be able to find
out what to do by looking around. That's what happens in a visual
workspace, and in Lean Software Development, visual information is a
fundamental enabler self-directing work. A simple kanban system to show
what work awaits, visual signals to let everyone know how things are
going, and a chart showing the overall progress of the work are the basic
elements of a visual workspace. Simple tools to make this information
readily available and quickly visible are important enablers of Lean
development.
